We all know that the pad mounted transformer has the characteristics of a compact structure and convenient installation. Pad mounted transformers have been widely used in crypto mining farms in recent years, also known as Bitcoin miners.
Especially since Bitcoin mining is not allowed in China in 2021, the Bitcoin mining market has largely shifted to the North American region. Then GREEN ENERGY takes you to understand, how do you choose the right transformer for your bitcoin project?
Which country from and which standard do you require?
Currently, pad-mounted transformers are widely used in the Americas, especially in Canada and USA, but Canada and USA are according to different standards.
CSA standard is for Canada, ANSI/IEEE standard is for the USA, and both of these two standards have specific standards for pad-mounted transformers. For example, CSA std 227.4-06 and IEEE std C57.12.34-2015, are for three-phase pad-mounted transformers. The main difference between CSA std 227.4-06 and IEEE std C57.12.34-2015 include 1. HV bushing range 2. Indicator and 3. Barrier.
The pad-mounted transformer has two types, one is loop feed pad-mounted transformer, and another is radial feed pad-mounted transformer. The main difference between loop feed and radial feed is the number of HV bushing, loop feed has 6 HV bushings, and radial feed has 3 HV bushings.
Material of Pad-Mounted Transformer
As we all know, the basic configuration of a pad-mounted transformer is composed of tank, oil, winding, HV part, and LV part. Different materials will influence the price of the transformer. Like stainless steel tank is more expensive than mild steel tank, vegetable oil is more expensive than mineral oil, the aluminum winding will be cheaper than copper winding...etc.
The accessories of pad mounted transformer will also influence the price.
The standard accessories usually include packing stand bracket, LV bushing, Pressure Relief Valve, Drain & Sample Valve, ground strap cooper, HV bushing insert, ground bar, nameplate, ELSP fuse, bayonet fuse, tap changer, oil level gauge, oil temperature indicator, pressure/vacuum gauge, bushing well, LB switch and pentahead bolt. Besides the above items, change to an optional accessory, and the price will change accordingly.
